If you were like us this year, you fully immersed yourself in summer and all it had to offer (Seriously, nothing beats a beach weekend when the temps are soaring!). With fall weddings in full swing, we turned to Anthropologie’s head of beauty, Catherine M., for advice on how to gracefully transition our summer selves (read: dehydrated/ in need of a boost) into autumn.
Say good-bye to tan lines
Ideally, the best way to get rid of tan lines is to avoid getting them in the first place; I particularly like Babo Botanicals Daily Sheer Sunscreen because it’s highly effective, but gentle enough to use on the most sensitive skin. No one is perfect though—so should you find yourself in this predicament, breathe easy! There are two good ways to cover tan lines without damaging your skin or dress.
Use a self-tanner: Liquid Bronzer by James Read is a great choice since the color is buildable; apply it in layers until you achieve the perfect shade.
Try a temporary bronzer that’s transfer-resistant (so it won’t rub off on your gown!). We like Per-fekt’s Body Perfection Gel Matte Tan.
Nourish dry/sun-bleached hair
To restore your locks to their healthiest state, I recommend reducing the number of times your wash your hair each week and switching to dry shampoo such as Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk. On the days you do wash, wrap your hair with the Aquis Lisse Luxe Hair Turban before blow-drying. The towel’s genius design wicks moisture so your drying time is cut in half.
Fade sunspots & fine lines
Hands down, the best product on the market for fading sunspots and diminishing fine lines is Sunday Riley Good Genes Treatment! Used daily, the skin-brightening licorice, rejuvenating squalene, and soothing arnica reduces wrinkles, improves circulation, and firms skin.
Keep that summer “glow”
While every bride naturally glows on her wedding day, there are a few products that can maximize this “lit from within” look.
Face: I recommend Albeit Shimmer Stick in Champagne. It’s a universal shade that melts into the skin to create a sheer, luminous glow on eyes, lips, cheeks, and even décolleté!
Body: I swear by Prtty Peaushun Skin Tight Body Lotion which conceals imperfections, thanks to light-reflecting particles and gives your skin a flattering finish.
Smooth hands (for all the ring shots!)
Hand creams can temporarily plump the skin on your hands—my favorite is Yu-Be which was formulated by a pharmacist in 1957. Like I mentioned earlier though, the best long-term defense is to apply sunscreen daily. My pick is Supergoop! Forever Young Hand Cream which offers SPF 40 and a formula that improves the elasticity, tone and texture of your hands.
