Remember Twiggy? Eyelashes for miles, that girl. But, truth be told, as much as we love a long lash, Twiggy’s are a bit too tedious (three pairs of false eyelashes, several coats of mascara, and extra lashes – aptly called “twigs” – carefully painted beneath!). With hundreds of lash enhancers on the market, navigating the eyelash world is a bit intimidating though. So, we decided to take matters into our own hands and, based upon our own experiences, share the best ways to get a beautiful fringe.
Apply this OTC serum along the lash line (like you would eyeliner) every night. In a few weeks, you may not recognize your own lashes; we found ours grew so long, we even had boyfriends and husbands commenting on their length. Brands like Xlash make popular lash serums.
Falsies have gotten a bad rap – maybe because a strip of lashes dangling off your eyelid after the glue wears off isn’t exactly flattering. That’s why we LOVE individual lashes! By far the most natural-looking, they even last up a few days. To apply, dip the end of the lash into the clear adhesive (we like Ardell LashTite Adhesive) using tweezers. Place on the outer corner of your lash line and work your way in, adding more as desired.
If you want to leave things to the professionals, eyelash extensions are your best bet. Stylists attach faux lashes to your real ones one-at-a-time, resulting in longer, thicker eyelashes that totally look like your own. They won’t budge in the shower or during teary ceremonies, and they stay put for at least a month. The application takes 1-2 hours, but believe us — the results are worth it.
