Here at BHLDN you can often catch us daydreaming about the fab weddings we would plan for ourselves, thinking about all the details, from event toilets to the design of the wedding cake we would want. We chatted with our Senior Stylist, Caroline, about how she would incorporate her distinct personal style into her big day.
What do you do at BHLDN?
I head up the team that works with brides who are shopping for their big day online. Some can’t make it to a shop and others prefer to have a more private experience, so we guide them to their gown and complete their look with accessories through phone appointments and email consultations.
How would you describe your personal style?
I’m a total chameleon and like to think I take a lot of risks when it comes to my wardrobe. On any given day I’m channeling different aspects of my personal style!
First of all, where is your bachelorette party and what are you packing?
Well, I was planning on having my party in New York City because there are so many amazing things you can do there, plus I’ve heard you can get a limo to nyc from nj for a really good price so I would arrive in style! However, because of travel issues, more people would be able to come if I have it Miami. This still works well though because Miami holds a special place in my heart, even if I would have to go without a limo! I’d choose The Standard Spa for the perfect mix of spa, pool, and party. For breakfast I’d slip on a swimsuit with a lace robe as my cover up. The Anemone Maxi Robe is my favorite from the current collection! Just before the sun began to set, I’d change into the Mara Jumpsuit for happy hour. Then for dinner and dancing, it’s all about sparkle! The Goldie Dress would definitely do the trick.

The best part about weddings is…
Dancing and food. I love the energy and sound of a live band!
Do you have a dress in mind?
The Carlton Ballgown by Whispers & Echoes. She’s got lots of internal structure that nips in the natural waist line and supports the bust. Even though she’s strapless, she really holds you in so you feel secure.
SHOP THE CARLTON GOWN
How would you style it for your big day?
Carlton brings the drama on her own so you don’t need too many accessories to complete the look. I’d start with a dazzling pair of earrings. I’m also a big fan of veils since they’re such a special item-there aren’t many occasions you get to wear one! I’d choose one with delicate lace appliques to soften Carlton’s geometric details. Finally… SHOES! No look is ever complete without the perfect pair. I’d slip on the Sandie Heels for a classic look in the front and lots of sparkle in the back.

What are your bridesmaids wearing?
It’s so important that your girls are comfortable and feel like themselves on your big day. They shouldn’t have to fuss with a dress that doesn’t suit their figure. I love the crisp look of the bridal party in white, so I’d ask my girls to choose a white dress that makes them feel beautiful.
Big wedding or small wedding?
Where are you tying the knot?
Somewhere with a dramatic landscape and salty air from the sea. There is a small village in the South of France called Èze that comes to mind!

What’s the décor like?
I’d let the village shine as the backdrop. Èze is rich with textural stone work that sets the stage. A twinkle light canopy over the narrow streets would light the long table with white linens where we have dinner. There’d be overflowing center pieces with lots of soft greenery and my favorite flower-ranunculi!
What are some must-have songs for the reception?
A live band is key! Anything and everything soulful would be on the set list.
What flavor would your cake be?
Carrot cake. No question!
And the honeymoon?
Anywhere and everywhere.
