Aisle Style with January

Here at BHLDN you can often catch us daydreaming about the fab weddings we would plan for ourselves. We chatted with our Print & Interactive Designer, January, about how she would incorporate her distinct personal style into her big day.

What do you do at BHLDN?
I love my job! I design homepages & emails, packaging, event invitations, and everything in between. I also illustrate and occasionally design for product.

How would you describe your personal style?
I have a modern, minimalist style with hint of femme. Effortless is my game plan. Although I have a hidden bohemian side that comes out in the summertime. 🙂

First of all, where is your bachelorette party and what are you packing?
Somewhere equally relaxing and exciting like Mexico! I’d go for either the Empress Dress or the Bryant Jumpsuit in black paired with our Goldenrod Earrings by Jennifer Behr.

The best part about weddings is…
I love the very end of the ceremony when the couple has officially sealed the deal. The energy is a special kind of happiness, and you can feel the love!

Do you have a dress in mind?
It’s a toss-up between Sawyer and Loretta, but Huxley is a dream too!

How would you style it for your big day?
Simply! With Gold Fringe Heels and a hairpiece like the Abbington Hair Combs.

What’s in your bouquet?
A good amount of greens paired with yellow wildflowers.

What are your bridesmaids wearing?
The Gwyneth Dress. It’s architectural but so simple.

Big wedding or small wedding?
Small to mid-sized. I’d want to feel relaxed with all friends and family celebrating with us.

Where are you tying the knot?
Outdoors on a late summer evening, either in a garden or on a coast.

What’s the décor like?
Thoughtful and not overwhelming. The graphic designer in me would rely on the details to thread the theme together—from the save the date to the escort cards. I imagine there would be twinkle lights or lanterns in trees, and I’d love to see a big open sky full of stars. There would be wildflowers throughout and a simple palette overall. I’d cap off the night with a bonfire for those who stay late.

What are some must-have songs for the reception?
This will be the hardest part!

“I belong in Your Arms” by Chairlift

“Everywhere” by Fleetwood Mac

“Into You” by  Ariana Grande

“Never Going Back “ by Caveman

“That’s What I Like” by Bruno Mars

What flavor would your cake be?
I love tiramisu, a lavender poppyseed cake, or something offbeat like Belgian waffles with Nutella!

And the honeymoon?
The South of France!
